The Sumida ward was established on March 15, 1947, merging Mukojima and Honjo. However, the name of the ward came from the Sumida River.

Solamachi Tokyo Skytree, Ryogoku Kokugikan Sumo Arena (National Sumo Stadium), Edo-Tokyo Museum, Asahi Breweries Headquarters, Sumida Aquarium, and Tokyo Irei-do( Tokyo Memorial Hall) are famous in the Sumida Tokyo.

Tokyo Irei-do is a memorial to those unidentified people who died in the Great Kanto earthquake, the Bombing of Tokyo in World War II, and other catastrophes.

Tokyo Skytree:

Tokyo Skytree is not merely a tower, but it is also a vast shopping center. It has a supermarket, restaurants, a food-court, fashion stores, souvenirs, digital stores, an apple store, and daily commodities store.

In a word, it has everything a tourist need. So, no doubt the Skytree is tourists friendly.

Above all, it is a tourist spot. Thousands of thousands of people visit daily. It is the most visited place in Tokyo.

Location of Skytree:

Skytree is located in Sumida City, but short-curt people call it Sumida Tokyo. It is also familiar to the local people as Solamachi Town.

Tokyo Skytree is usually a broadcasting and observation tower. It is the tallest structure in Japan, which is 634 meters high. But it is the most tourist attraction in Tokyo.

Never miss going up & buy Tickets online:

I always encourage my readers to visit the Skytree. If the weather is good, I strongly suggest going up to see Tokyo’s beautiful view; a chance of viewing Tokyo from the top of the Skytree does not always come in life.

But, never forget to purchase Skytree tickets online. Otherwise, you may miss going up to the top of the Skytree, or you may waste your precious time for tickets in the long queue.

The fact of the Skytree viral picture:

The most viral picture( scenery) of Asakusa together with three important buildings, the Sumida City government building, the Asahi beer headquarters, and Skytree, look different entirely different from the top of the Skytree. These three buildings look very tall from Asakusa, but from Skytree, these buildings look like heaps of playgrounds.

The most exciting thing is these three buildings are located in Sumida City, which we see in the viral picture. Still, the photo only can be taken from Taito Ward like Asakusa. The buildings belong to Sumida City, and the beautiful scenery people can enjoy only from neighboring place Asakusa.

However, it is fun and pleasant to view famous scenery like these three tall buildings from different angles. Before visiting Skytree, you can view the picture above.

National Sumo Stadium:

The National Sumo Stadium is located in Ryogoku, at the bank of the Sumida River in Sumida Tokyo. It is the second most popular tourist spot in Sumida City after Skytree.

Sumida Tokyo
National Sumo Stadium

It is one of the tourist spots in Tokyo. Locals and foreigners all enjoy Sumo. Sumo is the National Sport of japan. This game is held every three months in Japan’s significant cities only.

Besides, Sumo is considered a Holy sport by the Japanese. According to Japanese customs and beliefs, if any kid takes a picture with a Sumo wrestler, becomes healthy.

Many kids take pictures with the Sumo wrestlers during the Sumo tournament. However, it is fun taking pictures with Sumo wrestlers, whether locals or foreigners, kids or adults eager to take photos with Sumo wrestlers.

Finally, I strongly suggest purchasing Sumo tickets online in advance. It is not the Olympics game, but it is hard to get tickets most of the time because tickets get sold out quickly.

Moreover, the more time you spend exploring Tokyo, the deeper your appreciation for this vibrant city grows.

For an enriching experience, I recommend visiting a website dedicated to showcasing the best activities for tourists in Tokyo, where you’ll find an array of exceptional options to enhance your journey.
