Tokyo is the capital of Japan, consisting of 23 beautiful wards. As the capital of Japan, Tokyo tourist attractions are enormous.

There are 23 special wards, 26 cities, 1 district, and 4 sub-prefectures. The 23 Special Wards lie within the Eastern part and the rest of the 26 cities, 1 district, and 4 sub-prefectures in the Western part of Tokyo.

The 23 Special Wards are as follow-

However, 23 Special Wards are the most famous area where tourists usually stay and visit. These Special Wards have more facilities than the western part of Tokyo.

There are numerous tourist spots in Tokyo. However, the most famous tourist spots are three, Imperial Palace, Akihabara, and Tokyo Station.

A brief discussion about the three tourist spots is given below-

Imperial Palace:

Imperial Palace is one of the most famous places in Tokyo. It is a big area fortified by lake and stone walls. It is close to Tokyo Station.

The surroundings of the Imperial Palace help visitors understand how powerful the Emperors of Japan used to be in the past.

The Japanese Emperor lives here. It was destroyed in World War Two and rebuilt again in the same form.

Tourists cannot go inside the Imperial Palace for security reasons, and it remains close for the whole year.

However, on January 2nd and February, the Imperial is open for the public.

On January 2nd, Emperor delivers New Year Greeting. On the day, tourists can go through the Imperial Palace and see some places.

Akihabara:

Akihabara is a world-leading electric area in Tokyo. It’s a place where people can witness the culture of Japan, high-tech shops, and gadgets. Akihabara can be described as an underground culture.

There are hundreds of small and big electronic shopping centers in Akihabara. Yodobashi Camera, Mandarake(massive manga & anime store) are the most famous shopping Center in this area. 

However, Akihabara is also famous for the Maid Cafe, where the waitresses serve customers in cute costumes with a lovely smile. Akiba Fukurou, where tourists can touch animals and owls, and VR NINJA DOJO,  where people can experience real and virtual Japanese high-tech Ninja skills.

Besides, There are two famous Shrine Kanda Myojin Shrine and Tokyo Daijingu Shrine in Akihabara, where thousands of tourists visit every day.

One famous Radio Center named Akihabara Radio Kaikan in electronic Town where tourists purchase different components, such as semiconductors, resistors, jacks, LEDs, switches.

Tokyo Station:

Tokyo Station is the busiest place in Tokyo. Tokyo Station never sleeps. Tokyo Station is mainly Train Station.

People from all over Japan arrive in Tokyo through Tokyo Station. All JR and Bullet train services start from Tokyo Station.

Besides, Chiyoda Ward has too many things to see, such as Hibiya Park, National Diet Building, Nippon Budokan (Martial Arts Hall), Tokyo Takazuka Theater.

Chuo Ward is called Chuo City in English. It’s surrounded by Minato, Taito, Chiyoda, Sumida, and Koto Wards.

Chuo Ward is divided into three zones, Kyobashi, Nihonbashi, and Tsukishima.

Kyobashi and Nihonbashi are commercial areas situated east of Tokyo Station.

Ginza and Tsukiji are the most famous in Chuo Ward.

Minato City has numerous tourist spots. However, three areas, Odaiba, Roppongi, and Toranomon, are more important than others.

Roppongi is a business center in Tokyo, and the word Roppongi means ‘SIX TREES.’ It’s famous for bars, nightclubs, hotels, and restaurants.

However, Roppongi is famous as a tourist spot.

Roppongi Hills is the most visited tourist spot in Roppongi. It’s a massive modern shopping center where an Observation Deck, shops, restaurants, cafes, a hotel, a TV studio, Museum, and Movie theatres are available. This is the only center where so many things are available in one place.

Besides, Roppongi is famous for its National Art Center, Mori Art Museum, and Arisugawa Park.

There’s a famous shrine called Nogi Shrine, where tourists enjoy the sense of holy every day.

Toranomon:

Toranomon area is mostly a government official area. Most of the ministries are located in Toranomon. Tourists who are interested in knowing about the government-related offices enjoy the area.

Shin Okubo:

It is a Korean town in Tokyo. It’s also a famous tourist spot. Recently, Shin Okubo is familiar to the Tokyo people as an International Area. Many Korean, Indian, Pakistan, and Vietnam people live there.

There are many things to do here, such as enjoying Korean-style food, barbecue, Korean-style club, shops, and bars. This area is considered one of the large Tokyo tourist attractions.

Besides, many temples, shrines, and gardens attract tourists every day. Among them, Zenkokuji Temple and Tokyo Daijingu Shrine are very famous.

Besides, many temples and shrines to see in the area, but the Nezu shrine is the most famous.

Solamachi Tokyo Skytree, Ryogoku Kokugikan (National Sumo Stadium), Edo-Tokyo Museum, Asahi Breweries Headquarters, Tobu Museum, and Tokyo Irei-do( Tokyo Memorial Hall) are famous in the Sumida ward.

Tokyo Skytree:

Tokyo Skytree is usually a broadcasting and observation tower. It is the tallest structure in Japan, which is 634 meters high. But it is the most tourist attraction in Tokyo.

Tokyo Skytree is the tallest tower in the world and the second tallest structure after the Burj Khalifa (829.8 m). Tokyo Skytree town is Solamachi. It is an enormous area.

Ryogoku Kokugikan (National Sumo Stadium):

It is one of the tourist spots in Tokyo. Locals and foreigners all enjoy Sumo. Sumo is the National game of japan. This game is held every three months.

Besides, Sumo is considered Holy Game to the Japanese. According to Japanese customs and beliefs, if any kid takes a picture with a Sumo wrestler, becomes healthy.

Many kids take pictures with the Sumo wrestler during the Sumo tournament. However, it is a tourist spot.

Edo-Tokyo Museum:

The building covers 30,000 square meters and 62.2 meters tall. It is between the Tokyo and Edo periods, starting the year between 1590 and 1964.

Edo Museum is one of the best museums to visit in Tokyo. The telephone kept here is Edo-periods telephone. Besides, the jeep model was an old model. No one can ever imagine how Edo’s people used to ride on a jeep without looking at it.

There is two renowned Shrine in Koto City named Kameido Tenjin Shrine and Tomioka Hachiman Shrine.

Besides, several parks and museums in the city, including museums of Contemporary Art Tokyo in Kiba Park, Tokyo Big Sight(Tokyo International Exhibition Center), are worth mentioning here.

Some of the Odaiba areas are under Koto Ward. These spots are amazingly famous, such as teamLab Borderless, DiverCity Tokyo Plaza, Pallet Town Ferris Wheel, National Museum of Emerging Science and Innovation.

Besides, the Unicorn Gundam landmark statue is next to DiverCity Tokyo Plaza.

At the same time, Ariake Coliseum Park is also famous in Tokyo. 

Ariake (Ariake Tenisu no Mori Koen) is also famous for Tennis, which can hold 10,000 people.

Two temples, Gohyaku Rakan-ji and Daienji Temple are very famous in Meguro.

Gohyaku Rakan-ji is a Buddhist Temple. In Japanese, ‘Gokyaku’ means ‘five hundred,’ and ‘Rakan-ji’ means ‘Enlightenment or Arhat Temple.’

In Buddhism, who achieves enlightenment is called Arhat. So, it is a temple of five hundred Arhat.

Besides, a strong message about this temple that those who pray in this temple can achieve the wishes.

The Daienji Temple 520 stone Statues to honor the people who died in the fire in 1772, during the Edo, Meiwa.

Meiwa was the second of the three major fires of Edo.

Besides, the Ryusen-ji Temple is worth visiting, and it is one of the excellent temples in Meguro city.

Besides, Meguro Gajoen is famous for its 100 Stairs.

Area: 60.66 km2

Ota has a few areas like Omori, Kamata, Haneda, and Den-en-of city. Haneda is an airport in Tokyo, and it is convenient for tourists who want to visit Tokyo.

Narita airport is bigger, but it is far from Tokyo. That’s why most people use Haneda.

However, it is worth visiting because it is an airport and a good shopping center. Many people go to Haneda for shopping every day.

Some Temples:

Ikegami Honmon-ji is a Buddhist temple of the Nichiren Shonin. Nichiren Shonin founded the temple.

Nichiren means Lotus. He devoted himself to Buddhism. He realized the value of the Lotus Sutra, which means he achieved perfectness.

Besides, Senzokuike Pond, where Nichiren is said to have washed his feet, is a famous tourist spot in the Ota ward.

At the same time, the grave of Katsu Kaishu is nearby. He was a Tokugawa Navy commander who wanted to be buried facing Mount Fuji.

Park: 

There are two kofun burial mounds in Tamagawadai Park. The Kofun period in Japan is between the AD 3rd century and the early 7th century.

Setagaya is considered the most populous ward in Tokyo. It has a reputation for a family-friendly neighborhood.

However, this ward also has many tourist spots like other wards, such as towers, temples, shrines, museums, parks, and green spaces.

Carrot Tower:

Carrot Tower is one of the towers in Tokyo. But it is a commercial building tower, and tourists can view beautiful Tokyo from the Carrot Tower observatory deck for free.

Tourists can go by elevator up to 26 floors and see from the Carrot Tower the most beautiful tourist spots, such as Tokyo Tower, Skytree Tower, and Mount Fuji.

Temples in Seyagaya wards:

Gotoku-Ji temple is one of the famous Buddhist temples in Setagaya. The temple became one of the Tokyo tourist attractions because of the ‘Lucky Cat.’ In Tokyo, it is also familiar as the ‘Lucky Cat’ Temple.

According to the myths, ‘Maneki-Neko’ was born here. The Japanese word ‘Maneki-Neko’ in English translation could be ‘Luck inviting Cat.’  

Like other good luck temples, tourists can buy ‘Good Luck’ cat figurines and wooden charms(omikuji) for their good fortune.

Besides, the tourists can see the surroundings of the temple and enjoy the beautiful views.

Similarly, Setagaya has many shrines and temples, such as Saisho-ji Temple, Shoin-Jinja Shrine, Zenyomitsu-ji, and Setagaya Hachimngu Shrine.

Parks in Setagaya:

Komazawa Olympic Park is worth to be viewing in Setagaya. The park is 10 percent located in the Meguro ward and the rest of the 90 percent in the Setagaya ward.

The park is significant because it has Komazawa Olympic Park Stadium, Komazawa Gymnasium, outdoor soccer and athletic, baseball, swimming, jogging, cycling, and Tennis venues.

Besides, Setagaya has many lovely parks, such as Hanegi Park, Kinuta Park, and Tamagawadai Park.

Similarly, the ward has many museums such as Hasegawa Machiko Art Museum, Seikado Bunko Art Museum, Setagaya Literary Museum, Setagaya Art Museum, and Gotoh Museum.

Fukuro Matsuri started in 1968. It is a parade of portable shrines (mikoshi) with Yassa dance.

Similarly, Otsuka Awa Odori Dance is one of the famous festivals in Toshima. This festival is a group performing with colorful costumes dance and attracts over 150,000 visitors.

It is held in Summer in front of JR Otsuka Station.
