Oyokogawa Shinsui Park is located in Sumida City. It starts from the southern part of Tokyo Skytree and runs along the Oyokogawa River’s banks.
It is not a river; instead, it isbetter to say a small stream.
However, it is a beautiful stream with five zones: Tsurikawara, Kappakawara, Hanamomiji, Palette Plaza, and Blue Terrace.
Oyokogawa Shinsui Park is also a nice walkway between Skytree and Kinshicho, with no traffic signal. It’s very convenient to reach Kinshicho from Skytree to Kinshicho on foot within a few minutes.
Multi-purpose Park:
Every zone has a specific feature: playgrounds, kid sliders, waterfalls, benches, ponds, flower gardens, fishing pond, and small bridges.
Moreover, Oyokogawa Shinsui Park is the most beautiful park in Sumida City. Both side apartments and the river banks in the middle, where people can sit and relax.
Most of the nursery kids come here during the day walk. Sumida City has many parks, including Mizumachi Sumida Park, but Oyokogawa Shinsui Park has more natural features.
This park is also a nice place for jogging and running. Most importantly, it is rare to find such a nice walkway along the river banks without a traffic signal in Tokyo.
Seasonal Beauty:
The park changes in every season. During the Cherry Blossom season, Oyokogawa Shinsui Park is filled with beautiful cherry blossoms, and in summer, it showcases vibrant summer flowers.
Besides, there are always beautiful flowers in the park. The city staff takes care of the flowers and other parts of the park all year round.
It is a small, serene park where you can spend your time viewing flowers, rocks, streams, and birds.
Moreover, you will see small children with their kindergarten teachers enjoying the outdoors during the day.
Events and Activities:
In addition, the park on the Kinshicho side of Hokusai Dori is a venue for music events, glass markets, and other seasonal events.
Every season, several events take place here, making it a vibrant part of the local community.
Surroundings:
The surroundings are usually residential areas. But at the end of the park, if you follow Hokusai Dori (right), you’ll arrive at the Sumida Hokusai Museum on foot within 5 minutes. If you go left, Kinshicho Station is just 2 minutes away on foot.
However, if you wish to explore a little more, you can go straight and arrive at Kikuyanagi Bridge. Kikuyanagi Bridge is considered one of the top 12 bridges in Tokyo for its stunning leaf-changing and cherry-viewing scenes.
