a) Take the Hakone Tozan Train:

  • Route: Board the Hakone Tozan Train at Hakone-Yumoto Station and ride to Gora Station.
  • Travel Time: Approximately 40 minutes.
  • Fare: Around 410 JPY.

b) Board the Hakone Cable Car:

  • Route: From Gora Station, transfer to the Hakone Cable Car to Sounzan Station.

2) Nearby Food and Refreshments:

Owakudani Station’s food stalls and small restaurants sell local snacks and dishes. The most popular items are soba noodles and curry rice. Black eggs and wasabi-flavored ice cream are on the top favorite list.

3) Ideal Return Time:

For a relaxed journey back, plan to leave Owakudani by mid-afternoon (around 3:00 PM) to ensure you can catch the last ropeway or train without feeling rushed.

8. Transport Operation Hours:

Here are the operation hours for the key transportation modes to Owakudani:

***Hakone Ropeway Operation Hours:
  • Operating Hours: 9:00 AM to 4:15 PM.
  • Last Departure:
    • From Sounzan Station to Owakudani: Around 4:15 PM.
    • From Owakudani to Togendai Station: Also around 4:15 PM.

Tip: Ensure you board the ropeway at least 30 minutes before closing to avoid missing your ride.

***Hakone Cable Car Operation Hours:
  • Operating Hours: 7:00 AM to 7:00 PM.

Tip: The cable car operates longer hours than the ropeway, making it a reliable option for traveling between Gora and Sounzan later in the day.

***Hakone Tozan Train Operation Hours:
  • Operating Hours: 5:50 AM to 11:50 PM.
  • Frequency: Trains run every 10-20 minutes during peak hours and every 30 minutes during off-peak times.
  • Last Train:
    • From Hakone-Yumoto to Gora: Around 11:50 PM.
    • From Gora to Hakone-Yumoto: Around 11:00 PM.

Note: If you come back Tokyo, you should board before 30 minutes.
