Last week, we visited Indian Restaurant & Bar Doli in Sumida City. The restaurant sits right under Hotel Mystays Asakusa, just beside Sumida-Dōri. From the outside, it looks simple, but the moment you enter, you feel a warm, homely atmosphere.

Authentic Indian Taste:
The open kitchen gives a nice welcoming feeling. The staff greet you politely, the tables are clean, and the smell of freshly baked naan fills the entire room. It feels like a small family-run place where you can relax and enjoy your meal.
Curry served with Rice
Many Indian restaurants in Japan make their curry sweeter because Japanese customers prefer sweet curry.
Doli does not do that.
Their curries taste truly Indian — rich spices, a gentle kick, and no unnecessary sweetness. It reminded us of real home-style Indian cooking.
What We Ordered?
We ordered two different lunch sets so we could try a variety of dishes.
Set 1:
Vegetable curry
Chicken curry
Turmeric rice
Coconut-milk dessert
Set 2:
Garlic naan
Chicken curry
Butter chicken
Tandoori chicken
The good thing is you can choose whether you want rice. If you not you can have naan. Indeed, you’ll get vegetable salad free.
The Food Experience:
The vegetable curry is mild and creamy, with peas and carrots adding freshness. Chicken curry brings a deeper red color and stronger flavor, with tender chicken pieces.
Turmeric rice is light and fluffy, and the coconut dessert offers a cool, sweet finish
Extra Naan
The second tray feels richer.
Garlic naan arrives warm, soft inside and crisp at the edges, full of aroma. Tandoori chicken stands out with its smoky, juicy texture.
Both butter chicken and chicken curry are creamy, flavorful, and deeply satisfying.
Free Extra Naan:
One thing we really loved and that is extra free naan.
The staff bring more naan with a smile, something that is rare in Tokyo restaurants. This makes the meal feel generous and comforting.
Price & Value:
Lunch sets start around ¥850–¥1,100, which is very fair considering the quality and portion size. For this price, the food, service, and atmosphere are excellent.
Perfect atmosphere for meal
Besides, the interior is simple but clean. Yellow seats, wooden tables, and a peaceful environment.
No loud music, no rush. It’s a great place to take your time, talk, and enjoy real Indian food.
