How to Get to Chureito Pagoda from Tokyo?
There are several ways to go to Chureito. But the best way is to go by train. The train is on time.
However, people also use the bus as they don’t have to worry about the transfer. I’m writing below the details. In fact, you can choose to go by train, bus, or car at your convenience.
However, a car is the best option for a family with small kids if you hire a car.
1) By Train (Recommended):
Traveling by train is the easiest and most scenic way to reach Chureito Pagoda. Follow these steps:
Step 1: Take the JR Chuo Line
From Tokyo Station or Shinjuku Station, take the JR Chuo Line to Otsuki Station.
Duration: ~1 hour
Cost: ~¥1,300 (one way)
Step 2: Transfer to the Fujikyuko Line
At Otsuki Station, transfer to the Fujikyuko Line and get off at Shimo-Yoshida Station.
Duration: ~45 minutes
Cost: ~¥1,170 (one way)
Step 3: Walk to Chureito Pagoda
From Shimo-Yoshida Station, it’s a 10-15 minute walk to Arakurayama Sengen Park. Be ready for a steep climb up the stairs to reach the pagoda. It’s about 398 steps.
2) By Bus:
Bus is a budget-friendly option.
Take a highway bus from Tokyo Station to Fujisan Station or Kawaguchiko Station.
Duration: ~2 hours
Cost: ~¥2,000-¥2,500 (one way)
Transfer from Fujisan or Kawaguchiko Station to the Fujikyuko Line to Shimo-Yoshida Station.
