Chiyoda City location:

Chiyoda is one of the 23 wards of Tokyo, located in central Tokyo. The ward is known as Chiyoda City. It is also familiar to foreigners as Chiyoda Tokyo that has numerous tourist spots.

Area:11.66 km2

Background:

Chiyoda ward was formed in 1947, which became the unification of Kanda and Kojimachi when Tokyo transformed into the Tokyo Metropolis.

Attractions:

There are numerous attractions in Chiyoda Tokyo. Some of the attractions are worth mentioning, such as Imperial Palace, Hibiya Park, National Diet Building, Akihabara Electric Town, Nippon Budokan, Tokyo International Forum, Tokyo Takarazuka, and Tokyo Station.

However, among all these attractions, the Imperial Palace, Akihabara, and Tokyo Station are very famous to Tokyo tourists.

Besides, the downtown Tokyo district Ginza is here, considered the heart of Japan. So, you can consider roaming Ginza for a real Tokyo life experience.

Imperial Palace:

Imperial Palace is one of the most famous places in Tokyo. It is a big area fortified by lake and stone walls. It is close to Tokyo Station.

The surrounding of the Imperial Palace helps visitors understand how people of Japan used to in the past.

The Japanese Emperor lives here. It was destroyed in World War Two and rebuilt again in the same form.

Tourists cannot enter the Imperial Palace because, for security reasons, it remains closed the whole year.

However, on January 2nd and February, the Imperial is open to the public.

On January 2nd, Emperor delivers New Year Greetings. On that day, tourists can visit the Imperial Palace and see some places.

Edo Castle and Kitanomaru Park are located in the Imperial Palace.

It is a historic place.

Akihabara:

Akihabara is a world-leading electric area in Tokyo. It’s a place where people can witness the culture of Japan, high-tech shops, and gadgets. Akihabara can be described as an underground culture.

There are hundreds of small and big electronic shopping centers in Akihabara. Yodobashi Camera and Mandarake(a massive manga & anime store) are this area’s most famous shopping centers. 

However, Akihabara is also famous for the Maid Cafe, where the servers serve customers in cute costumes with lovely smiles. Akiba Fukurou, where tourists can touch animals and owls, and VR NINJA DOJO,  where people can experience real and virtual Japanese high-tech Ninja skills.

Besides, There are two famous Shrine, Kanda Myojin Shrine and Tokyo Daijingu Shrine in Akihabara, which thousands of tourists visit daily.

One of the most famous in Chiyoda Tokyo is Radio Center, named Akihabara Radio Kaikan in Electric Town, where tourists purchase different components, such as semiconductors, resistors, jacks, LEDs, and switches.

Tokyo Station:

Tokyo Station is the busiest place in Tokyo. Tokyo Station never sleeps. Tokyo Station is mainly Train Station.

People from all over Japan arrive in Tokyo through Tokyo Station. All JR and Bullet train services start from Tokyo Station. This is the main station in Tokyo Metropolis.

Shrine:

Yasukuni Shrine, Kanda Myojin Shrine, and Hie Shrine are the most famous Shrine in Chiyoda Tokyo.

Yasukuni Shrine in Japanese is Yasukuni Jinja. Emperor Meiji founded the Shrine dedicated to the people who died for their service to Japan.

Mostly the soldiers who died in the Boshin War and First Indochina War. The Shrine kept the birthdates, names, origins, and places of death of 2,466,532 men, women, and children.

Not only that, but the Shrine also kept some Koreans and Taiwanese who died serving Japan.

Besides, many religious festivals are celebrated in the Shrine.

Festivals:

Many festivals are held in Chiyoda City, such as the Mitama festival, Edo Tokyo Night Market festival, Sanno Matsuri, Kanda Matsuri, Tokyo Michi Terasu, and Cherry blossom Festival.

Above all, these festivals, the Kanda Festival is the most famous in this Shrine.

Kanda Festival:

Kanda Festival in Japanese is Kanda Matsuri, one of the three biggest Shinto Festivals in Tokyo.

Kanda Festival, Sanno Festival, and Fukagawa Festivals are considered the biggest festivals in Tokyo so far.

According to history, Tokugawa Ieyasu celebrated the Kanda Festival as a Victory Celebration over the battle of Sekigahara in the 17 century.

However, the Kanda festival’s modern form is held in honor of the Kanda Myōjin‘s god.

Cherry Blossom Festival:

Cherry Blossom Festival, another name is Sakura Festival. Cherry Blossom in Japanese is ‘Sakura.’

It is celebrated yearly between late March and early April at the Chidorigafuhi-Ryo Kudo walkway. There are around 260 Cherry trees in the spot.

Most importantly, during the Cherry blossom festival, the Chidorigfuchi river is open to offer an exciting Cherry viewing experience to Tokyo tourists.

Museums:

National Museum of Art, Yusukan Museum, Mitsubishi Ichigokan Museum, Science Museum, National Showa Memorial Museum, Idemitsu Museum of Arts, and Meiji University Museum are worth visiting.

Universities:

Chiyoda city has many good schools, colleges, and universities. However, it is better to mention only universities to keep the article short.

Moreover, the Chiyoda universities are Hosei University, Nihon University, Meiji University, and Senshu University.

Embassy:

Metropolitan Assembly and Tokyo fire Department are situated in Chiyoda Tokyo. Metropolitan Assembly is the representative office of the Liberal Democrats Party.

Besides, the Supreme Court, the Prime minister’s Official Residence, and ministries are in Chiyoda Tokyo.

International representation:

Most of the Embassy is situated in Chiyoda City in Tokyo.
