Nezu Shrine Azalea Festival takes place at Nezu Shrine in Bunkyo City. Azalea Festival is called Tsutsuji Matsuri in Japanese.
However, it is in Bunkyo Ward, so it is also known as Bunkyo Azalea Festival.

The main attraction of the month-long Nezu Shrine Azalea Festival is the lovely pink and red Azalea flowers.
No doubt, the elegant pink color of the Azalea pleases visitors. It is the best flower festival in Bunkyo City.
Azaleas start blooming in early April last until mid-May. The full bloom comes during the Golden Week.
But visitors keep coming to the venue from the beginning until the flowers are shrunken.
It is inevitable to mention that Nezu Shrine Azalea Festival is one of the Five Flower Festivals of Bunky City.
The venue has over 100 varieties of Azalea with more than 3,000 trees. According to records, Nezu Shrine Azalea garden was planted 300 years ago.
Besides, the garden is enormous, measuring around 6,600 square meters.
On the other hand, stalls sell traditional foods and drinks. Amazake, Manju dumplings, and other simple beverages are available there.
Besides, a few performances take place on the shrine’s grounds. So visitors enjoy the beauty of the Azalea flowers and street performances.
The hours of the festival are from 9:00 to 17:30 every day. The Nezu Shrine Azalea Festival is free.
However, A ¥200 admission fee is required to walk through the azalea garden.
Azalea garden is located on a slight hill slope starting from Divide Bridge. There are small paths through the garden so that visitors can walk to view the flowers.
Nezu Tori Tunnel and Romon gate look fantastic from the top of the garden.
Furthermore, the pink and white colors of Azalea make Tori Tunnel more beautiful than any other season of the year.
